Ian Ethan Case Cosmic Concert

Cosmic Concert: Ian Ethan Case

Soar through the solar system, around nebulas and to distance star systems in the immersive space under the dome of the Glastonbury Planetarium while listening to live original music performed by Ian Ethan Case.

Acoustic double-neck guitarist and Candyrat recording artist Ian Ethan Case fluidly combines a wide variety of self-invented playing techniques necessitated by his multi-layered compositions, further expanded by live sound designer Stephanie Case using real-time live looping technology. As part of a national tour in support of their forthcoming album "Earth Suite", this event marks their first Connecticut performance with a never-before-seen custom instrument affectionately dubbed "The Beast".

Incorporating newly developed "acoustic synthesis" technology from American inventor Paul Vo, the instrument was co-designed by Case and private luthier Wade Sylvester and took over 7 years to build. With an array of tuning levers allowing for accessing hundreds of tunings on the fly, along with sophisticated electromagnetic technology that physically manipulates the vibration of the 12 strings, be prepared to hear other-worldly sounds you've never imagined coming from a guitar, double-neck or otherwise. Featuring special guests
Yun-Yang Lin (cello) and Tony Connaway(bass) of the Hartford Symphony, indulge in this unique performance in which cutting-edge electronics and acoustic instruments pair with immersive large-scale visuals to transport you to worlds near and far.
