The Glastonbury-East Hartford Magnet School Planetarium is an exceptional facility that educates students from Glastonbury and surrounding towns and, at the same time, serves as an educational and recreational resource for the entire community.

The Glastonbury Planetarium is a 12.2 meter (40 ft) dome with ~80 unidirectional removable seats. It features RGBW cove lighting and a 5.1 surround sound system.  The planetarium is powered by an Evans & Sutherland Digistar fulldome system. Digistar offers fulldome video playback, realtime computer graphics, and a complete 3D digital astronomy package fully integrated into a single theater system.  Learn more at https://www.es.com/.

Supporting Curriculum
The Coordinator of Planetarium operations works together with the staff of the magnet school and of Glastonbury Public Schools to create shows that support curriculum. In addition, the planetarium presents exciting opportunities for students to be involved in shows. For example, high school music students could develop the musical score for a show and art students could work on graphic designs. In fact, the planetarium's eye-catching logo was created by Glastonbury High School art student, Benjamin Combs.

The planetarium opened in April 2013.
